In an increasingly globalised world economy, dictated by transnational corporations the face of trade and commerce has undergone a sea change. World trade today has moved from being trade between nation states to intra-firm and intra-industry trade. Moreover the introduction of more complex and intricate manufacturing processes and greater degree of diversification accompanied by both horizontal and vertical integration in the production system, has resulted in firms spreading and at times splitting their production facilities between different geographical locations. This fundamental change in how we look at trade and manufacturing has necessitated organisations to take an international outlook towards conduct of their businesses.
The 'Global Connect' program, designed in this backdrop, attempts to not only integrate international best practices and management education science into Globsyn Business School’s curriculum but also to groom and mentor ‘Industry Ready Managers’, sensitised to a global business environment, while displaying adequate management skills and the right mindset to handle the challenges of operating in a globally competitive market.
Under the aegis of the Global Connect program, Globsyn Business School has rich academic collaborations with major international universities like Coventry University, UK, Glasgow University, UK, Freeman School of Business, Tulane University, USA and University of Evansville, USA. Some more international relationships are in pipeline. With each of these universities, Globsyn has tried to address a unique facet of management learning. For example our academic relationship with AB Freeman School of Business, Tulane University, addresses international finance, Glasgow addresses international business, Evansville addresses executive programs and Coventry addresses internationally benchmarked general management programs.
As a part of the Global Connect design senior international faculty members regularly undertake lecture tours to GBS campuses bringing with them the processes and practices unique to their institutions. As a result it gives Globsyn Business School students not only an opportunity to learn and imbibe new and contemporary management techniques but also helps Globsyn Business School faculty to understand the contemporary issues and best practices of various international universities.
The Global Connect program also offers an opportunity to students to visit these foreign universities either as a part of their curriculum or as an additional module. The visit provides students not only an in-depth exposure to the international universities but also opens access to the global knowledge bank of these universities. These visits also go a long way in helping students to be sensitive to cross cultural requirements of a truly global manager.
